The Return of UPCAT
May 01, 2023 | Written By Althea Grace Genabia and Enzo Salvador
The University of the Philippines, the most prestigious university in the country, offers free education to those that pass its difficult entrance examination, UPCAT. Due to the pandemic since 2019, the UPCAT was replaced with UPCA which does not offer an entrance exam, fully assessing a student's capability through their high school grade as the university has to follow the COVID-19 protocols for the safety of the students and as well as continuing to pursue education amidst the pandemic.

With the pandemic starting to calm down, UPCAT has finally returned for the school year 2024-2025. The entrance exam commenced on June 4 and June 5 this year 2023.

As the exam date approaches near, Grade 11 students in APEC V. Luna strives to maximize their time as the school year comes to an end with all the deadlines needed to be looked up to. We take a sneak peak on how their preparations are going amidst the stressful semester.

Some students went out of their way to enroll in review centers where they usually attend at night to ensure a passing score for UPCAT. Some, on the other hand, chose to study by themselves through purchasing review books written by former students and scholars or teachers. And there are those who are confident with their stock knowledge and only review a few chapters as a refresher or do not review at all.
Whatever preparation the students are doing to ensure that they pass the UPCAT, the outstanding support from APEC Schools V. Luna will remain the same for everyone.
