Oedo's Controller

It had been a year since the news of a UFO crashing at the town of Hillwood. Rather than people fearing, it became a tourist attraction. Knowing well that there wasn’t any alien spotted in the UFO. Some suspects that there wasn’t anyone in the UFO, to begin with. While some suspects that an invader disguised himself/herself as a human.

But now, it already has been a year since UFO crashed yet there wasn’t any bizarre news reported around the town. Now everyone just doesn’t care at all.

 

“Oh geez, I’m gonna be late!” Amon muttered to himself as he pedals fast at his bicycle. Needing to brake as he saw kids playing around in his direction and beside them was a girl wearing the similar school uniform he wears. 

 

“Hey! Invader, right now I’m gonna exterminate you in this world!” the kid said as he daringly points at the girl. While the girl just stares at him with a seemingly forceful smile as a response.

Amon scratches his head in frustration.

 

“Ummm, can we please move a little I’m in a hurry.” 

 

“Alright! Since you were asking nicely!” the kid stepped away.

 

“Thanks.” He paused and looked at the girl with a curious glance.”Aren’t you gonna be in a hurry or something? There won’t be any buses on the way to school because of the stupid UFO.” Amon asked yet the girl just blinked at him a few times as if she doesn’t know how to speak or either understand what Amon says. He glances at what the girl was holding as it caught his attention, it was a controller.

 

“Geez, come on. Hop on.” Amon offered the girl to ride with him on the way to school.

 

The girl muttered his last phrase. Amon scratched his head because of the awkward tension he feels. 

 

“Don’t report me for harassment or kidnapping alright?” Amon warned and grabbed the girl’s arm and made her sit at the back of his bicycle.”Hold on to me tight. We’re gonna be going fast!”

 

Without waiting for her response. Amon pedals aggressively in rush on the way to school. As the girl just tightly hold on to his uniform vest and looked at all the buildings she passes through and her eyes that looked like they had no life just finally brighten.

 

It did not take long for Amon to reach his classroom. He becomes supersonic in rush, no one underestimates his speed. As he entered the classroom, everyone was not still in their proper seats and the chattering he could hear from the outside stopped when he entered. Everyone’s eyes were fixated on him as he breathed hard after all the rushing.

 

Why is everyone staring at me? Amon asked himself.

 

“What’s up, everyone! Looks like I’m not late.” He forcefully said energetically.

 

Finally, Sheena, the class president, approaches him. She pointed at his back with a slightly shocked expression though most of the time Sheena would always smile in any situation as if it were her poker face.

 

“Amon, who is this girl you brought into this classroom?” 

 

“What are you talking about-” He looked at his back and found himself still holding the girl’s arm he met earlier. “Oh my- I’m so sorry.” Finally letting go of her hand.

 

Everyone laughed.

 

“Oh wow, you were so busy on your date that you forgot you’re still holding onto her.” Sheena concluded the situation with a chuckle in the end.

 

“No- that's not-” Amon tried to explain but he was busily stuttering his words.

 

“It’s fine. Coincidentally, I’m in this class too.” It was the first time Amon and the others heard her speak. It was very soothing yet emotionless. 

 

“Awwe, so you’re just a transfer student. How boring.” Sheena exclaimed and returned to her seat.”What’s your name?”

 

“Oedo.”

 

“Oedo?”

 

“Oedo.”

In a lively classroom where students normally focus their attention on the lesson. Somehow right now their eyes focused on the transfer student Oedo. Why is her name so weird? Why has she been holding a gaming controller ever since she stepped into this room? 

 

Finally, the teacher decided to ask for Oedo’s attention. 

 

“Hey Oedo. Are you listening?” He asked but Oedo keeps on fidgeting with her controller. “You have to listen to our lesson-” The teacher added yet the last words of his phrases were left unheard as a big sound of something falling from the sky with low hissing sounds that gets even louder overlaps his voice.

 

Oedo stopped fidgeting with her controller.

 

A sudden loud nearby thunderclap interrupted the classroom. With the big shock wave the air produced and vibration of the thunderclap. The classroom window glasses could not take in the impact and shattered into pieces but in non-natural cases, the shattered glass stayed afloat mid-air and did not fall at the ground avoiding injuries for the students in the classroom. Ignoring the non-natural happening everyone left the classroom in panic.

 

But Amon stood there and Sheena waited at the classroom door calmly. 

 

Oedo stood up from her chair still holding her controller. “Amon.” She called. “I saw you glanced at my controller. This is what the people on my planet created for the princess to be in control and to put her powers to ‘great’ use. Sometimes it’s used by the king to manipulate her. Sometimes it’s used to exterminate enemies she didn’t want to kill- ” Oedo glanced back and saw Amon with a blunt shock expression yet calm.”But then in luck, the princess caught the kings and knights off guard and took the chance to take that controller and flew to another planet with a UFO. Do you understand Amon?”

 

“Oedo- you’re a.” 

 

“No, he doesn’t understand Oedo. After all, Amon is a dummy.” A girl interrupts their conversation. Her voice was soothing even when she was insulting. Everyone looked at the person and it was Sheena who was speaking. Slowly approaching and she gets faster.

 

Sheena immediately grabs Oedo’s hand making Oedo lose grip of her controller. 

 

“Amon catch it!” Oedo yelled in a struggle.

 

“Not happening,” Sheena muttered and catched the controller before Amon does. “I am very sorry princess. Unfortunately, you’re not the only alien here.” 

 

The window glasses that were afloat fell on the floor. The fog disappeared at the thunderclap. There it showed a big UFO. At the entrance of the UFO were the king and knights of planet Lemburgh. Sheena takes out a pistol of memory remover. She shoots Amon’s head as well as Oedo's to remove their memories of this event. “We can not let you rebel against us again.” 

 

Amon as he slowly loses consciousness. He witnessed Oedo being carried by Sheena as she was unconscious and tears were falling from her closed eyes. He could hear the loud cheering of the aliens outside. With his last little bit of energy, he tried to reach out his hand but all yet that couldn’t do anything.

 

Before leaving the planet with UFO. Sheena grabs a big gun memory remover and shoots at the sky. Making everyone in its radius forgets everything about what happened. Everything, even the UFO crash 2 years ago.
